Dead or Alive: Ultimate

Dead or Alive Ultimate is a 2 disc collectors addition, consisting od Dead or Alive 1, originally released for the Sega Saturn, and a revamped version of Dead or Alive 2, taking stuff from the Dreamcast version and the PS2 version. Both games are on Xbox live.

Gameplay:
In Dead or Alive 1 Ultimate (DOA1U), the gameplay is just as good as the other games of it's time, but with more bouncing. There's the basic combos and throws. It was really hard though, and sometimes frustrating.

Dead or Alive 2 (DOA2U), the gameplay is great. The controls are responsive, the moves are crisp, and the combos are extensive. With 15 characters, 3 of which are unlocked, you can have tons of different tag combos you can make.  There are 8 modes in DOA2U. Story, Time attack, survival, Tag battle, team battle, Practice, battle record, and Xbox Live. All are a lot of fun. As for the fights, single, you can get up to 12 hit combos, and 16 hit tag combos. but, that's just me. Overall, the gameplay is really fantastic!!  9.8

Graphics:
Sweet!! They look very realistics, besides Ayane's purple hair. The game even supasses the already beautiful DOA3, a launch title for Xbox. The game looks a lot like Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, because it runs on that engine. There is a new opening cutscene, which is absolutely gorgeous!! The characters look unbelievable. I thought I was watching a movie. The regular gamelooks beautiful. The environments look real, and the characters look like a work of art!!  10.0

Sound:
I think the music is really well done. They've brought back the DOA2 sountrack, with some new music, and a cathcy new theme by Aerosmith titled "Dream On". There are also some new remixes for every character, except Hitomi, who, because of her popularity, was added to the DOA2U character line-up.

The voices match the characters, and are very well done. Kasumi, one of the main characters, has two voices, one from the DOA3 game, and her voice actor from DOA1 to DOA2. The system voices have changed too. The have the new system voices, Monica, Ayane, Kasumi, and the DJ. But they've also brought back Miyako Endo, the originall system voice. I love this games sound.  9.7

Story:
The story is mostly in DOA2U. The story line is very deep. All the characters have a reason to be there. But,to understand, you need to read the Manuals, there are two. The opening cutscene in DOA2U tells you a little more about  the main characters. I like the story, it seems like a real story.  9.5

Fun:
Tons of fun. I love the game and the Xbox Live is a huge bonus!! It's $50 well spent!! It'll be tons of fun to play with your friends!!  9.5

Lasting Appeal:
You'll be playing it for a long time.
