Halo 2 (Metal~Ninja~Monkey Review)
This is the sequel to the launch title that basically sold the system. You continue the role as Master Chief
as he fights the alien juggernuat known as the covenant. This game lives up to most of the hype and is a must buy if you own
an xbox.
GRAPHICS: 9 Halo 2 has some of the best graphics to hit the xbox to date, the character models, gun models,
particle effects, etc. Are all done greatly. Level of detail in the enviroments is amazing. And always gotta love seeing your
feet in a shooter. Also with the ambient life on certain missions adds another sense of realism. One problem is that you get
texture "pop ups" during cutscenes which is all due to having no inbetween level loadings which would take you out of the
immersion level this game creates.
Sound: 10 This is one part where the game truly shines. All the sound effects
are just amazing, from the guns to your own footsteps. With the footsteps depending on what terrain your on determines the
sounds and there done perfectly. The guns and grenades effects are just breath taking, all sound how they should and how you
would expect them to sound, the Rocket Launcher is truly amazing when passing right by you. I truly <3 Marty O'Donell for
the work he did on this game.
GAMEPLAY: 9 This game is just so much fun to play. With Dual wielding and hijacking
implemented into the Halo formula now. Dual Wielding is exactly what it sounds like, holding and using two guns at the same
time, there are circumstances of course, the guns must be single handed guns (so no dual rockets launchers) and to fire is
very simple, left trigger fires your left hand gun and right trigger fires your right hand gun(allowing for some very effective
combos). You can not throw grenades while dual wielding since both of your hands are full and if you melee you toss your left
handed weapon which all works to balance the game which is what Halo was known for. Hijacking is very rewarding, nothing like
kicking an elite or your friend out of the ride and splattering them against a wall. The campaign is of average shooter length
with a anti-climatic cliffhanger for an ending. But the multiplayer is just plain out amazing, live can be annoying with the
matchmaking system though but you rarely will ever get lag.
CONTROLS:10 What can you say? perfection. With the controls
like these it makes the learning curve for this game about twenty minutes.
REPLAYABILTY: 10 The multiplayer is
as perfect as a console game will ever get. Nothing like going online or connecting a few xbox's with some friends and playing
your hearts out with Halo 2.
OVERALL: 9.7 This is defenitly a must own for anyone with an xbox, unless you despise
shooter then because this probably wont change your mind on that. Definetly a contender for GOTY. One of the most fun i have
had with a game all year. With a few minor problems such as the pop ups, matchmaking, and the ending this game is truly amazing.
