Halo 2. I always wondered "will it be good?" well it's here and it's pretty decent. Not as great as I hoped but
decent.
Gameplay:
Standard Halo gameplay but a couple things annoy me, even though most of the original arsenal is
back, I always liked the assault rifle and now we get a poor burst fire variant of it, and the SMGs are possibly the most
overrated guns in the game, even when dual weilded. The duel wielding isn't always bad but some weapons actually handle worse
in duel weilding mode, I also think when you wanted to throw out your second gun, especially to throw a grenade they
should just throw the gun away instantly not have it just sit there or wait for the animation of it flying to happen, and
especially if you're dropping it for a grenade you HAVE to hit the grenade button again to throw one. Now of course the gameplay
is fun, the levels are short, but all fun and replayable, Hijacking is now there, and you can do alot more stuff then you
were able to in the first game, I mainly liked to smash into stuff inside a Ghost. 9.2
Story:
Well I was disappointed here, the story has some good parts but it was really really not that great. Some of
it's remade right out of the first game, some of it's overly tacky, some of it goes so fast you don't know what happened before.
The storys real only strong points are the fact that it does fit well in the game, it's just too fast and short and well remade.
4.9
Graphics:
Once again an area where halo 2 had potential but fails majorly. Sometimes the graphics can be gorgeous, sometimes
the graphics aren't seen until 20 seconds into a scene, sometimes the graphics look like they were made on the quake engine.
The graphics of course (despite when they look all old and blocky, like from far away distances with a sniper) are better
then the first halo, but they take a while to load and the game trys to be so fast the game runs faster then the graphics,
so you'll see them load in and stuff, which can get annoying. 7.1
Sound:
Somehow the best part about Halo 2. The sound doesn't fully resemble the sound in the first game, but it's much
better. The sound fits in there almost perfectly, yah sometimes it cracks a little and doesn't sound right, but it's
great, I mean on the short areas where your in space it sounds like your in space, when you're walking through a stream, you
feel as if the stream where right beneath your feet. 10.0
Fun:
Yes it's fun, not great or as good as the first (my opinion) but the fun factor is there, and it will entertain
you from time to time, just don't go to x-box live, it's matchmaking is horrible and the only game modes played are the same
modes, with different names. For multiplayer just get a friend and go split screen or use a system link. 8.2
Lasting appeal:
I'd say from time to time, if you liked it the first time through you'll want to keep it in your game library,
just to return for multiplayer or another run through the single player experiance, but this will probably
only be every
couple months.
Overall I give Halo 2 a 7.6/10
