Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (RufustheMage Review)

This is something new for about everyone. Hideo Kojima did a excellent job on this game. I loved the cut scenes, the voice acting was really high quality except for some of the characters. The story of course was really good and complex, if you played the other two Metal Gear Solid's then you know what to except in his plot twists.

The story is that you are playing as Snake (Big Boss) and you have to rescue a scientist nammed Sokolov. Everything is going fine untill you find out that your old mentor defects from the US and joins Volgin's crew, Volgin is the big bad guy for this game. Sokolov's new nuclear weapon, the Shagohod is also stolen by Volgin. Things get really messed up from this point. Now you have to stop your mentor, recuse Sokolov and destory the Shagohod in one week or Russia and US will be in a huge war.

Using the Camo to blend in with the inviroment is really cool. Having to change to match with the trees, metal, grass etc. It's all very interesting and it has some complexity to it also. You meet a host of characters on your adventure, some help you and some are just plain confused and creppy. The game was a bit challengin at some parts, but it wasn't really HARD in normal.

You get some really cool weapons in the game like the Revolver, RPG and, a really nice custom pistol too. You can get into anti air gun turrents and a few other things as well, but they don't play a big part in the game.

The Boss fights are really great, espically the Sniper fight with "The End". This fight will go down as the longest boss battle in video game history. It took about 3 hours to finish it. If you love sniping you will love this fight a whole lot!

The only thing I can say wrong about this game is that the camera can really get in your way at times. You can't see the gaurds around the corner and you get capped without realizing. I guess it's suppose to up the challenge, but it's just fustrating.

If you love sneaking games, Metal Gear Solid and you love Hideo Kojima and his wonderful directing, then you'll love this game. I recommend this game to those people.

I give it 9 out of 10.
